Why is homeschool.com advertising for public school programs

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I just got an email from homeschool.com advertising for IQ Academy which serves a handful of states. Not only is the program free in these areas, but students also receive free laptops. This give me the impression that it is public school at home, making the kids technically public school students and not homeschoolers.

Now I don't care which program people use as long as they know the difference. The email I received blurs the lines.

Well @ homeschool.com homepage IQ Academy is listed as a charter school. Why would they list charter schools in general?

Does it really matter if the program is a charter school or homeschooling as long as high quality learning takes place?

Yes it matters. People need to know what they are getting into.

I ran across your blog today and thought you might be interested in my most recent post, Homeschooling Defense, at www.bedlamorparnassus.blogspot.com.

I shared it with a friend of mine whose wife homeschools, and he appreciated it very much.

Enjoy!

I don't know whether it's public or not, but you make a good point. Who funds IQ Academy? I find that when I follow the money, I usually find who benefits from it at the end of the trail. I'd be suspicious, too.

Do you have curricula, or do you unschool, like us?

I seda, I don't unschool. We use a mix of different curriculums and outside classes from year to year. I just listed the plan for this school year today on my blog.

1. I think it sounds a little "iffy" too. People do deserve the right to know EXACTLY what they are getting into.
2. Your children a lovely and they look just like you.
