Homeschool blogging A to Z : D is for Democrats

As written by Ann Zeise on her A to Z homeschool website, "Democrats Homeschool Too"!

Most people like to put homeschoolers into a little box.  They classify us as odd, reclusive, and Conservative Christians... very Conservative, and definitely Republican.  But the truth is, there are homeschoolers on both sides of the political
fence.

While, I don't categorize myself as either Democratic or Republican, I have voted both, and most recently Democratic.  Yes, I get a lot of flack for this, living in the Conservative South, but here's the question I ask in return:

If we are all homeschooling, following our own path to educate our children, then why are we becoming sheep and following any political movement, based on the sole fact that we are homeschoolers?  It seems a litle off to me.

So, here's to you Democratic homeschoolers out there!

Yep. I was a bit saddened at the convention I went to last. Most of the workshops were about being godly families. I agree with the premise but don't need a workshop on it and would have preferred to see other things more directly pertinent to education. I KNOW homeschooling is a lifestyle and for many of us a "godly" one, but still.

I don't go to the conventions for that reason. I hate to be smug, but I have raising my kids down. I know what I am doing. ...and we are very involved in church... check!

I want to know more about new homeschooling methods and curriculum... that is all.
