While she has gone through all the motions of applying to colleges with great results, she has yet to show any real passion about going to college. She only wants to go... one might say, to get away from parental micromanagement. (Trying to not take it personally.)
In an effort to help her find a college that would put a smile on her face, I started talking about colleges in NY. That makes her really happy, but once again, since she is so young, it has been agreed that NY isn't going to happen right away. Then came the magical words. Grad School.
Juilliard to be exact. Now that's a goal.
She is saying that she is not ready to audition any time soon (seems very frightening), but when she finishes her undergrad locally, or decides to transfer, she certainly wants to try. Now to build a grad school back-up list to keep the excitement going! This idea also makes accepting the undergrad school offering the best scholarship really attractive so her Dad and I might be able to contribute some money to grad school.
Wait.... me paying for Grad school... is that supposed to be a good thing? She'd better get some more scholarship offers!
