Moreso than kids not learning in school, moreso than kids being bullied, I worry about kids being in physical harm in school. I mean, if you really want to terrorize people, then go after thier kids. Around the time I pulled my kids out of school, a mentally disturbed man walked into a local school and hit a girl in the head with the claw of a hammer. He nearly killed her and caused permanent damage. I don't think I could ever, ever be comfortable if I knew my kids were there. read this story from today: Man opens fire a Colorado high school, says he has a bomb

why should the kids... I don't remember my teachers taking days off without coming back looking like they had beed dragged by a truck. If they were sick... they took sick day. My mother taught at a school for runaways and emotionally disturbed children, she took so few day off that when she got cancer, she was able to take off almost a years worth of sick days and personal time. That was then... this is now. Thank you, Joanne Jacobs for finding this story.
