socialization, schmocialization

If I had a dollar...

I don't quite understand the misconception that many people think homeschoolers are social inepts unable to say hello to strangers, or have a decent conversation just because they aren't taught to behave by thier peers. That's what socialization means, you know?

Socialization: The process whereby individuals learn the appropriate behavior that allows them to be functioning members of a particular group, such as a family, work, or social group. McGraw Hill ~Online Learning Center.

When will they understand that being "raised" by peers is a dangerous thing.

Society wonders what has happened to society, why each generation of children is worst that the one before... Why since the 1950's or 60's the morality of America had denigrated. I say it is because that is when Parents checked out and children's upbringing has been left primarily to that of the community... i.e. their peers.

This socialization does not help children learn to get along with others. This socialization multiples bad behaviors en masse!
