How sick are you of being asked the socialization question?

As homeschoolers, we get asked alot of silly questions. What does your child do for friends? Who do they play with? Are they socialized?

Duh! Yes, everyone, of course!

I really liked your answer in the first article. I always want to go into a philosophical discussion on what socialization is...it isn't really about talking and making friends. Its synonym is actually "enculturation" which has to do with adopting the norms and values of a larger group. Or, as Katherine Dang says, socialization is not about socializing but about making children into socialists (to act as a group rather than an individual). It is interesting when you start thinking about it.

I wrote more about this some time ago : )
