"Incidents of Teacher-Student Sex Increasing"

What is wrong with these teachers who can't draw a line between a student under their care and an adult who they can have sex with?

Reports like this make me glad I homeschool.

They go into that kind of job so they can have the trust and be able to have an excuse to be around their targets. Just like predatory animals that eat rabbits are going to make sure they're near where the rabbits are...and it doesn't matter if you homeschool or not. Predators know where to find their prey. They can get your kids at church - where they're trusted as a kids' camp counselor, a scout troop leader, or whatever. I think homeschooling parents shouldn't fool themselves into thinking that because they homeschool, their kids are safe from these sociopaths, because they're not.

Oh of course not... I reported not too long ago about a man who marketed himself as a homeschool teacher who took a girl to the movies. The bottom line is parents need to know and have control of who has access to their kids. A parent needs to be able to go to a school and say.. "you know what... I don't like this teacher, get my kid away from him." Chances are, they will be turned down and ridiculed.
