100 hours to literacy?

Here is a story about a new method of homeschooling called Thomas Jefferson method that pupports a child with zero literacy can reach high school level in 100 hours. see video here While it sounds a bit iffy to me, it it is moderately affective, I would use it for a summer school program with kids who need improvement.

The Thomas Jefferson method seems unbelievable to me. The entire third grade in three months (was it?). That seems a bit much. Homeschoolers can take less time at school, but THAT much less time? I don't know...At least the video made a good point about socialization at the end.
