College visits make all the difference

This weekend daughter is visiting and auditioning at a local college.  Actually, she auditioned yesterday  for the theater program which is a  pretty exciting looking collaboration between two colleges and a community theater which has proven to graduate working actors.

Thank you to all who remembered her in their prayers.  She feels pretty good about her audition, even though it was imperfect.  The imperfections probably did more to show her personality than anything else, so she is OK with that.  I guess we will get the results soon letting us know what (if any) scholarships she will be rewarded.  (She has already been accepted with a decent merit scholarship. )

Just a funny aside... she made a huge freudian slip in her interview. They asked if she had any dance experience, and she replied that she's taken a menage of dance classes.  She meant melange.  The
giggles tipped her off that she'd said something wrong.  (Rookie homeschool mistake)

Next weekend is her final college scholarship audition at what has been our number 1 college pick.

However, this visit has made the job of choosing quite difficult. The college we thought was an OK second choice is now looking pretty attractive.  Sure there are things we don't care for like a huge Greek sorority culture and overall graduation stats that are the lowest on her list. But the theater program at this school is renowned and nothing to sneeze at.  The school is also literally a stone's throw from my home and while she would be living on campus, the distance... or lack of... would make me very comfortable.

I am about to get ready to get dressed and take a more in-depth tour of the school than I already got yesterday in viewing the theater program and Sorority houses.  Speaking of sorority houses, I noticed a huge inequity of house size and amenities based on nationality of members of the houses. I pray the reason is age of sorority chapters at the school and size, but the differences seemed glaring.

Anyway, heading back to finish the experience, and to pick up daughter who spent the night.
